This early August wedding at Stonehurst at Hampton Valley has such a huge place in my heart! If you were to ever take a walk around my house, you would know I have a thing for simplistic minimalist beauty, and that’s the vibe this wedding brings. For Chelsea and Shane’s wedding, they rented both the barn and the mansion at Stonehurst at Hampton Valley, which is located in the upper Northeast Corner of Connecticut. If you have been dreaming of a chic, minimalist wedding design with a touch of upscale rustic, I think you will fall in love with this wedding as much as I have!
The Getting Ready Part of the Day
Chelsea and Shane chose to get ready in The Mansion located at Stonehurst at Hampton Valley, which offers both a large bridal suite and groom getting ready space. Her details were on theme with rest of the wedding and I loved creating a flat lay that fit the whole vibe. On your wedding day it helps to gather your important details ahead of time, this way I can create something beautiful and get back to capturing all those candid moments.
One thing that I have started to notice, is that more and more couples are opting for forgo a first look. While this was the case for Chelsea and Shane, she did do a first look with her dad and her bridesmaids. When my couples choose to not have a first look, I like to make sure that we get as many portraits pre ceremony that don’t include the couple together. This way, we are able to spend more time on couple portraits after the ceremony.
An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
Stonehurst at Hampton Valley offers two outdoor ceremony locations. When you reserve the full facility, you are able to choose between the both of them. Chelsea and Shane decided on the ceremony spot that is located by The Mansion. There a babbling creek that runs along the wooded spot, with a rustic A frame pavilion at the end of the aisle. On theme with the rest of the decor, the ceremony space was decorated with white florals and greenery.
A Rustic, Chic Wedding Reception
The Barn at Stonehurst at Hampton Valley as an elevated vibe thanks to white draping and hanging chandeliers. There is a lot of natural light, which is unusual for a barn venue. This is definitely the bigger of the two location options at Stonehurst. Because of this, it made it the perfect choice for Chelsea and Shane’s reception.

“I cannot even begin to explain how amazing Tonya was to work with, never mind her work! We booked with her over a year before our wedding. We did our engagement photos with her first, which not only came out AMAZING, but she was just so fun and genuine to work with. She made us feel so comfortable – it was like shooting for a friend, truly. Our wedding was a few weeks ago, 8/6/21. Not only did we wake up to sneak peek photos the next morning, but I had absolutely no words when I saw them. They were everything I could have hoped for. They’re perfect. They’re beautiful.
