You might not think of Fairfield County when you think of a Connecticut farm wedding. But if you’ve ever been to Shelton, Connecticut, a farm wedding is the perfect setting.
Taylor and Mike’s story is something right out of a Nicolas Sparks novel. They grew up across the street from one another in a small Connecticut town. Up the street from their childhood homes is a popular local Shelton farm where Taylor worked as a teenager. The farm and the people who worked there became like a second home and family to her. After high school, Mike joined the marines which lead to a 5 year long distance relationship. When he eventually finished his service the two settled together in Texas.
When it came time for Taylor and Mike to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted to do it back home, on the farm that meant so much to them both. Initially, they planned for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the hills they both knew so well. But, of course, mother nature had other plans. A Hurricane Dorian brought strong winds and rain to the Northeast. The ceremony was moved inside a smaller barn, and while it was a bit of tight squeeze, it worked out perfectly for them. To be surrounded so closely and intimately by all the people Taylor and Mike love so much while they exchanged their vows, was all that really matter to them.
Taylor and Mike did ended up getting lucky with breaks in the rain to get photos outside all around the different parts of the farm they love so much. A first look in a field of sunflowers, bridal party portraits surrounded by grapevines, and family portraits over looking the main farm below.
